About

Melissa J. Meyer, MA, LPC, ACS, CCTP

For over 20 years I have had the privilege of partnering with children, adolescents, and adults on their journey toward mental wellness — offering steady, evidence-based care wrapped in genuine warmth.

"Every moment is a fresh beginning."

— T.S. Eliot, a favourite quote of Melissa's

My Background

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of New Jersey since 2003. Over more than two decades I have partnered with children, adolescents, and adults navigating some of life’s most challenging seasons — anxiety, trauma, depression, relational pain, and the accumulated weight of complex histories.

My Therapeutic Approach

I offer a collaborative, compassionate therapeutic environment where the process supports emotional development and personal well-being. Together, we take a strengths-based approach, integrating cognitive behavioral therapy with trauma-informed care to foster insight, resilience, and meaningful change. I believe healing happens in relationship — and that the therapeutic alliance itself is a central engine of growth.

Areas of Specialization

I specialize in childhood trauma, sexual abuse, depression, anxiety, and relational issues — as well as simply assisting clients in navigating the challenges of everyday living. I have particular experience collaborating with local Prosecutor’s Department Child Advocacy Centers in trauma-focused work with children and adolescents.

Clinical Supervision

As an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), I also provide supervision for associate licensed clinicians seeking full licensure in New Jersey. This ongoing supervisory work keeps my own practice grounded in continuous learning and reflective practice.

Recognition

I’ve been named to New Jersey Family’s parent-nominated Favorite Kids’ Docs list for several years, and I’m proud to run an independent, woman-owned practice serving families across New Jersey.

Who I Work With

I work with children (ages 6+), teens, adults, and families. Many clients come in carrying trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, or relational pain. Others arrive at a life transition and want a thoughtful partner as they figure out what comes next. All are welcome exactly as they are.
