What to Expect

The Experience of Working With Melissa

In the First Session

A warm intake conversation. Melissa explores your background, current challenges, and goals — and you have the chance to ask any questions about the process. Many clients feel nervous; that is completely normal and expected.

In Ongoing Sessions

50-minute sessions with a check-in, deeper exploration of patterns and emotions, skill-building and practical tools, and regular reflection on what's shifting. You always have agency in shaping the direction of the work.

Clinical Approach

Evidence-Based Modalities, Integrated With Warmth

Melissa draws from multiple frameworks, weaving them together in a way that is tailored to each individual rather than following a fixed protocol.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Identify and reshape the thought patterns and behaviors that keep you stuck.

Mindfulness-Based Approaches

Build present-moment awareness and a gentler relationship with your own mind.

Trauma-Focused CBT

Evidence-based trauma processing at a pace that feels safe and regulated.

Family Systems Theory

Understand how family dynamics shape individuals — and how to shift them.

Attachment-Informed Practice

Heal relational wounds through the experience of a consistent, safe relationship.

Somatic Awareness

Notice and work with the body's signals alongside thoughts and feelings.

Strengths-Based Approach

Build on what's already working in you — not just what's broken.

EMDR

EMDR is a trauma-focused therapy that helps individuals process distressing experiences and reduce the emotional impact of traumatic memories.
